IRGC Celebrates Khorramshahr Liberation: A Powerful Symbol of Iranian Resistance Against Adversaries
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) recently celebrated the 43rd anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr, underscoring its significance as a symbol of Iranian resilience against foreign aggression.
In a statement released on Saturday and featured on the IRGC’s news platform, Sepah News, the organization characterized the 1982 liberation of Khorramshahr from the former Baath regime of Iraq as a pivotal moment in history.
This event was portrayed as a testament to the strength of the Iranian people and the solidarity of the armed forces in the face of hostility from powerful adversaries, referred to as “the Baath enemy.” The IRGC emphasized that this moment serves as a crucial lesson for current “new adversaries,” including Israel.
The liberation of Khorramshahr transcended a mere military achievement; it represented a profound expression of identity and strength. The IRGC’s statement highlighted the ideological importance of this victory as a stride towards the liberation of Palestine.
Furthermore, the IRGC called upon Iranian youth to draw motivation from the liberation of Khorramshahr to confront enemies in what they described as modern hybrid warfare.
The statement concluded with a stern warning to Iran’s adversaries, asserting that any act of aggression would elicit a decisive response.
On May 24, 1982, Iranian forces successfully liberated Khorramshahr in a large-scale operation known as Beit al-Moqaddas, during the eight-year conflict against the Iraqi Baath regime in the 1980s.
