Iran and India Set to Forge Stronger Ties with New Bilateral Cooperation Agreements, Says Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

In a significant move to strengthen diplomatic ties, Iran and India are set to sign various bilateral documents aimed at enhancing cooperation in key sectors including the economy, customs, and health.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is currently in New Delhi, India, to discuss the ongoing relationship between the two nations. This visit also serves as a platform for consultations on regional and international developments.

Baqaei shared on his X account that:

  • Foreign Minister Araqchi and Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will co-chair the 20th Iran-India Joint Commission.
  • They will sign several key bilateral documents focused on enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, customs, and health.

He emphasized the historical bonds of friendship between Iran and India, stating, “Iran-India bonds of friendship are deeply rooted in history and provide a solid ground for mutually beneficial relations.”

Baqaei further added, “We should work together to strengthen peace, security, & stability across the regions and beyond.”

Araqchi arrived in India on Wednesday, leading a delegation for high-level discussions with Indian officials. During these meetings, both sides will review and follow up on the latest developments regarding the implementation of economic agreements between their countries.
