Iranian Students Shine at TIMO 2025, Securing Prestigious Medals!

In a remarkable showcase of talent, Iranian students have secured two silver and two bronze medals at the prestigious Turkic International Mathematics Olympiad (TIMO), held from April 17 to 22 in Antalya, Turkey. This international competition attracts students from grades 3 to 12, making it a significant event for young mathematicians worldwide.

The TIMO is structured in two main rounds: the preliminary round and the global round. In December, more than 27,350 students from 35 countries competed online in the preliminary stage. This phase featured a challenging offline qualifying exam consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions, which participants had to complete within 60 minutes.

Following the preliminary round, the top contenders advanced to the global round, a paper-based event where approximately 1,500 selected participants gathered to demonstrate their mathematical skills.

Among the standout performers were Parnian Heydarian and Anusha Abdi, who both earned silver medals and were honored with the World Star awards. Additionally, Fatemeh Mazini and Ava Dejagah brought home bronze medals, showcasing their exceptional abilities in mathematics.

TIMO is dedicated to fostering academic and personal growth among youth at both local and international levels.   • They won a total of 10 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and two bronze medals, securing the third position globally.
  • The United States and China ranked first and second, while South Korea and India shared the fourth position.
  • At the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), Iranian students earned a gold medal, two silver medals, and a bronze medal, placing ninth among 96 participating countries.
  • In August 2024, Iranian students achieved an outstanding feat by winning five gold medals at the 17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in Vassouras, Brazil, leading the competition.
  • At the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in Isfahan in July 2024, the Iranian team won one gold medal and four silver medals, improving the country’s ranking from 17th to fourth.
  • In July 2024, Iran also secured one gold medal and three silver medals at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) in Saudi Arabia, which featured over 800 participants from 90 countries.
  • During the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Bath, UK, Iranian students competed against 609 students from 108 countries, scoring 137 points and finishing in 19th place.
  • At the 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Astana, Kazakhstan, Iran achieved two gold medals and two silver medals, contributing to its strong presence in the international academic arena.
