Strengthening Bilateral Relations: Interior Minister and Tajik President Meet to Enhance Cooperation

In a significant diplomatic move, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni of Iran and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan have come together to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations. This collaboration is poised to strengthen ties between the two nations, leveraging their shared cultural heritage.

Momeni highlighted that President Rahmon has shown a strong willingness to implement the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that were established during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Dushanbe. He expressed optimism about the potential for further cooperation, stating:

“I am hopeful for strengthening relations between our two countries, given our cultural, historical, religious, and linguistic commonalities.”

Additionally, he mentioned discussions regarding the visa waiver program, which has already been initiated for air travel in its first phase. This is expected to facilitate easier movement between the two countries.

Meanwhile, President Rahmon underscored the importance of fostering comprehensive relations, stating:

“There are no restrictions on promoting relations between the two countries in the political, security, cultural, social, and tourism sectors.”
