Kish Island Unveils Exciting New Museum Celebrating Islamic Heritage

In an exciting development for cultural enthusiasts, a historic building on Kish Island is set to be transformed into a museum dedicated to Islamic-era relics and arts. This initiative follows a recently signed agreement between the Dafineh Museums Group and the Kish Free Zone Organization, marking a significant step in preserving and showcasing Islamic heritage.

The agreement was officially signed by Hamidreza Soleimani, CEO of the Dafineh Museums Group, and Mohammad-Jafar Kabiri, CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization, during a ceremony in Tehran on Monday. This project aims to establish the first museum on Kish Island that focuses specifically on Islamic civilization and its rich heritage.

Soleimani discussed the importance of this cultural initiative, stating, “The Kish Free Zone Organization has officially entrusted the historical building to the Dafineh Museums Group for its transformation into a cultural and historical exhibition space.” He emphasized the need to preserve and display Iran’s vast cultural legacy.

“In Dafineh Museums Group, we hold a treasured collection of historical artifacts that, as per the directives of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, should be showcased to the public,” Soleimani added. He also mentioned that the group currently operates 15 museums across the country, indicating plans for further expansion in the future. “These museums are unparalleled in Iran and throughout West Asia,” he stated.

On the other hand, Kabiri shed light on the multi-faceted development strategy for Kish Island, with a particular emphasis on enhancing cultural tourism. He remarked, “We are striving to enhance Kish Island’s cultural appeal, and the prestigious artifacts owned by the Foundation can be exhibited in key locations like Kish, which attracts numerous international tourists.”

Kabiri further highlighted the necessity of revitalizing unused historical sites across Kish Island. “Many nostalgic spaces on the island have been abandoned or lack proper utilization. Transforming them into cultural and museum spaces is the best approach to preserving their significance,” he explained.

In terms of enhancing the museum experience, Kabiri stressed the importance of storytelling within exhibitions. “A museum is not merely a collection of objects; every artifact must tell a story, adding to its appeal and meaning,” he noted. This approach aims to create a deeper connection between visitors and the artifacts displayed.

Additionally, Kabiri revealed plans for further museum projects on Kish Island, stating that three more locations have already been identified for similar cultural initiatives. “We aim to create enriching experiences in these locations, and the Foundation can play a significant role in this endeavor,” he said.

The Dafineh Museum Group is a network of museums and cultural institutions managed by the Mostazafan Foundation. This initiative underscores the growing importance of cultural heritage in promoting tourism and education in Iran.
