Intelligence Minister: Non-Native Elements Fueling Insecurity in Sistan-and-Baluchestan
In a recent statement, Iran’s Intelligence Minister Esma’eel Khatib emphasized that the nation’s adversaries are striving to instigate insecurity in the Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province by using non-native agents. This highlights ongoing concerns regarding foreign influence and local stability.
Khatib made these remarks during his visit to Sistan-and-Baluchestan on Friday. He noted the historical attempts by enemies of the Islamic Republic to sow discord and chaos in the region. According to him:
“The enemies have always in the history of the revolution and the Islamic Republic attempted to carry out seditions and conspiracies; today, too, we witness that if there are acts that cause insecurity, they are carried out by elements who are sent in and who don’t belong here.”
During his visit, the minister expressed gratitude towards the local populace and officials for their ongoing efforts to maintain security in the province. He added:
“The enemies use every opportunity to create discord and insecurity; but the people of Iran, with vigilance and unity, have always stood against these conspiracies; we must be more careful than before and not allow the enemies to use external elements in a bid to create chaos.”
Sistan-and-Baluchestan is the second-largest province in Iran, sharing borders with both Afghanistan and Pakistan. This geographical significance makes it a focal point for various geopolitical interests.
Additionally, President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Sistan-and-Baluchestan as part of his first provincial trip since taking office. This visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing local issues.
On February 22, an incident occurred in the city of Chabahar where a sound bomb exploded at the Housing Foundation, a government organization dedicated to providing housing for underprivileged individuals. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
