Yemen Hosts Global Virtual Conference on Palestine, Firmly Opposes Displacement Plans

In a significant gathering highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by Palestinians, the virtual international conference titled “Palestine: From the Nakba to the Flood – The Importance of the Role of the Palestinian Resistance in Preventing Displacement” took place in Sana’a on Sunday. This event drew the attention of officials, diplomats, and over 50 researchers and academics from various nations, emphasizing the critical need for international solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The conference featured notable attendees, including:

  • Ismail Al-Mutawakel: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Dr. Ahmed Al-Imad: Head of the National Team for External Communication.
  • Daifuallah al-Shami: Member of the Supreme Committee for Supporting Al-Aqsa.

The forum also welcomed representatives from numerous Palestinian parties, organizations, and political factions, underscoring the broad consensus on the urgent need to address the escalating Arab-Israeli conflict.

During the conference, Daifuallah al-Shami highlighted the significance of the event in analyzing the ongoing tensions in the region. He referenced the legacy of martyr leader Sayyed Hussein Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, who emphasized the importance of Al-Quds Day and its association with his Quranic movement since 2001. Following in his footsteps, his brother, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, continues to advocate for this cause, consistently calling for jihad through various means.

Al-Shami also recounted the historical milestones of the conflict with the Israeli enemy, tracing back to the first Zionist conference held in Basel, Switzerland, in August 1897, which was led by Theodor Herzl advocating for a national homeland for the Jewish people.

Furthermore, he emphasized Yemen’s strategic role in supporting Operation Al-Aqsa Flood by obstructing Israeli navigation in critical maritime routes, including the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Moaz Abu Shamala, a representative of Hamas in Sana’a, shared insights on the Israeli regime’s procrastination in executing the ceasefire agreement, attributing it to their manipulation of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He stated that the Zionist authorities are deliberately obstructing humanitarian aid from reaching the people of Gaza, with tacit support from the United States.

Abu Shamala stressed the importance of Palestinian unity and firmly opposed the presence of foreign military forces in Gaza. He urged conference participants to vocally reject the displacement of Palestinian people from Gaza and the West Bank, emphasizing that such actions would only serve to strengthen Israeli control over Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian territories. He also called for the continuous provision of relief supplies to the besieged Palestinian communities and active participation in rebuilding Gaza.

The virtual conference attracted not just political figures, but also:

  • Academics
  • Researchers
  • Human rights activists
  • Politicians

These diverse participants collectively underscored the necessity of supporting the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish a sovereign state with Al-Quds as its capital. They condemned the urgent humanitarian crisis affecting Gaza, the West Bank, and other Palestinian regions, recognizing the need for unified efforts to bolster the resilience of the Palestinian population and support their resistance movements.

Additionally, the conference attendees called on the international community to honor its commitments to protect the Palestinian populace and uphold their right to return to their homeland. They emphasized the importance of uniting the voices of global activists against the American plans that seek to forcibly displace Palestinians.

The panellists reaffirmed the critical role of the Palestinian resistance movement, describing it as the only viable means to confront the policies of ethnic cleansing and apartheid implemented by the Israeli state. They also commended the actions of the Yemeni armed forces, operating under the slogan “You Are Not Alone,” which coincided with mass marches, fundraising initiatives, and the graduation of over one million mobilization trainees.

This international conference not only served as a platform for voicing support for the Palestinian cause but also highlighted the need for ongoing dialogue, activism, and humanitarian assistance to ensure the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people are upheld in the face of adversity.
