Iran Women's Futsal Coach Expresses Discontent After Heartbreaking Defeat

Women’s Futsal Coach Soleimani Celebrates World Cup Qualification Success!

Iran’s women’s futsal team has made history by securing qualification for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, despite not retaining their title in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup. The decisive moment came during their third-place playoff against China, where they achieved a resilient 3-1 victory, earning the final berth for the World Cup in Hohhot. Head coach Forouzan Soleimani praised this accomplishment as a milestone for women’s futsal in Iran.

“This World Cup qualification is a credit to all of women’s futsal in Iran and is invaluable for them,” Soleimani stated. She emphasized the passionate community of girls and women across Iran, who have supported the sport wholeheartedly. “They play with passion and love. They support us every day and give us strength, and we do what we do for them,” she added.

Under Soleimani’s guidance, the women’s futsal program in Iran has flourished, attributed to its early establishment compared to many other Asian countries. The growth of women’s futsal in Iran has been significant over the past 20 years, leading to the formation of approximately 100 teams across three divisions.

“All 32 provinces have their own leagues, and each team is led by experienced female coaches,” Soleimani explained. This structured network has contributed to the growth and success of the sport in the country.

Despite facing disappointment in the semi-finals against Japan, Soleimani and her team regrouped effectively to secure their World Cup spot. “Our aim was to defend our title, so we were mentally down after the semi-final defeat,” she remarked. To overcome this, the coaching staff focused on motivating the players and addressing the mental aspects of their game.

In their match against China, the team demonstrated their tactical awareness and physical prowess. “We knew how China would play and we asked our players to play powerfully and with high pressure,” Soleimani noted. The match was challenging, but the experience and tactical execution of the Iranian team led to their success.

Soleimani highlighted the importance of regular competition and training in preparing the team for the upcoming World Cup. “Our players compete regularly in domestic leagues and we also have frequent training camps,” she said. This consistent training regimen will be crucial as they prepare for their debut in the Philippines scheduled for November.
