Visitor Numbers to Kerman Province Attractions Surge by 85%!

During the recent Nowruz holidays, tourism in Kerman province saw a remarkable increase, with visits to its attractions surging by 85 percent. According to Reza Bordbar, the deputy director of investment at Kerman province’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department, this surge highlights the growing appeal of Kerman’s diverse historical, cultural, and natural sites.

From March 13 to April 5, approximately 2,387,000 visits were recorded, showcasing the province’s significant role as a tourist destination in Iran. Bordbar shared these insights with IRNA on Sunday, emphasizing the variety of attractions that drew visitors this year.

Among the most popular sites, the Gohar Park Tourism Complex in Sirjan stood out, attracting around 290,000 visitors during the Nowruz holidays. This complex is easily accessible from neighboring provinces such as Fars and Hormozgan, making it a favored spot for tourists.

In addition to Gohar Park, several other attractions also saw impressive visitor numbers:

• Shahzadeh Garden in Mahan: Over 93,000 visits
• Anthropology Museum of Ganjali Khan Bathhouse: Registered 67,000 visits
• Bam Citadel: Attracted 38,000 visitors

Bordbar further elaborated on the popularity of the desert attractions, noting that over 300,000 tourists explored the stunning landscapes of the Lut Desert, particularly the mesmerizing Kalout Shahdad. This influx of visitors underscores the unique allure of Kerman’s natural beauty.

To enhance the tourist experience, Kerman province featured 550 handicrafts pavilions during the Nowruz holidays, consisting of 400 temporary and 150 permanent setups. These pavilions showcased the rich craftsmanship and artistic heritage of the region, providing visitors with a taste of local culture.

In addition, the launch of 25 ecotourism museums across the province aimed to introduce Nowruz tourists to the rich local customs, traditions, and culture that define Kerman. This initiative reflects the province’s commitment to promoting its heritage while catering to the increasing interest in eco-friendly tourism.
