To follow Britain, to follow Canada, to follow 147 other countries,” he stated, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In a draft letter dated July 31, he argued that recognizing Palestinian statehood and holding Palestinian leaders accountable to international law would create a more sustainable solution than the decades of statelessness and oppression experienced by the Palestinian people. Despite the predominantly senior audience, Khanna asserted that he represents a new generation that refuses to tolerate human rights violations. “There is a new generation in this country that is not going to watch you violate human rights,” he declared. He also criticized Israel’s blockade of aid to Gaza, which he described as a source of manmade starvation, urging for the immediate allowance of food into the region. Khanna further suggested it was time for the US to end its unrestricted financial support to Israel, which he referred to as a “blank cheque.”

And how many people are opposed?” His inquiry was met with a strong show of support, reinforcing his belief in the progressive stance within his district.
