US Complicity Fuels Israeli Actions, Escalating Regional Insecurity

In a recent meeting held in Tehran, Araghchi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, to discuss the ongoing military aggression against Yemen. This meeting highlighted the critical situation in the region, emphasizing the humanitarian crisis and the impact of foreign interventions.

During the discussion, Araghchi strongly condemned the continuous military attacks by the US on Yemen, which have resulted in the deaths of civilians and the destruction of essential infrastructure. He stated, “The US military aggression against Yemen, coinciding with the intensification of the Zionist regime’s genocide in Gaza and its assaults on Lebanon and Syria, is merely another sign of the US complicity in Israel’s lawlessness and its alignment with this regime in spreading insecurity and instability in the region,” according to PressTV.

Araghchi expressed his concern over the unrealistic perceptions held by US politicians regarding the Yemeni people and their struggles. He urged American leaders to recognize that the ongoing occupation and the humanitarian crisis in Palestine are fundamental causes of regional instability. He emphasized, “The American politicians must understand that the US cannot claim to restore stability to the region by attacking Yemen and killing the innocent Yemeni people.”

Furthermore, Araghchi pointed out that the Yemeni people’s only “crime” is their solidarity and support for the oppressed Palestinians. He criticized the United Nations Security Council for its inaction concerning the blatant violations of international law and the principles of the UN Charter by the US and Israeli regimes. He stated the need for the UN to take swift and effective measures to halt these violations and restore respect for international norms.

The ongoing aggression from the US and its allies has intensified since Yemen resumed its anti-Israel operations in response to the renewed attacks on Gaza. In light of this, Washington has declared that it will employ overwhelming force until the Ansarallah Resistance movement ceases its operations against Israel. In recent days, the US and Britain, as major supporters of the Israeli regime, have reportedly bombed Yemen relentlessly, resulting in the death of numerous civilians, predominantly women and children. This has been seen as a desperate attempt to halt Yemen’s military actions against Israel.

In contrast, Grundberg appreciated Iran’s continued support for UN efforts aimed at advancing the peace process in Yemen. He remarked that achieving stability and peace in Yemen is not only crucial for the Yemeni people but also essential for the security and stability of the entire region. Grundberg underscored the importance of the United Nations utilizing all its resources to restore peace and stability in Yemen.

Earlier on the same day, Grundberg and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht Ravanchi, exchanged views on the precarious situation in Yemen. In a post on his X account following their meeting, Takht Ravanchi rejected any military solutions to the crisis, asserting that the United States must cease its heavy bombardments targeting Yemen.

Yemeni media reports indicated that the US has conducted at least 14 strikes on the outskirts of Sa’ada city recently, resulting in one death and four injuries. This latest assault follows previous attacks where the US targeted over 40 locations across Yemen, including in the capital city, Sana’a, leading to significant damage to residential buildings and local businesses.
