Iran Set to Launch Two Cutting-Edge Satellites This Sunday!

Iran Unveils Bold New Year Space Ambitions: 6 Satellite Launches and Human-Capable Space Capsule in the Works!

Iran is making significant strides in its space program, with plans to launch six satellites and enhance the development of a human-capable space capsule over the next year. The head of the country’s Space Agency, Hassan Salarieh, recently shared insights into Iran’s ambitious space agenda for the Persian New Year 1404.

Among the upcoming projects, several domestically produced satellites are set for launch, including:

  • Simorgh
  • Zuljanah
  • Qaem 100

Additionally, the Nahid-2 communications satellite is scheduled for launch utilizing both domestic and international platforms.

A key highlight of the announcement is Iran’s advancements in achieving human spaceflight capability. Engineers are currently working on two new biospace capsules, categorized into:

  • 500kg class
  • 1,500kg class

The larger capsule is specifically designed for carrying human-sized payloads and incorporates advanced guidance systems along with soft-landing technology. Prototype testing for these capsules is anticipated to occur within the year.

Moreover, the Chabahar Spaceport, a vital infrastructure project, is progressing towards the completion of its first phase, which focuses on solid-fuel launches. Salarieh confirmed that test launches have already begun at this facility.

This spaceport is expected to support future launches involving liquid-fuel and semi-heavy launchers in subsequent phases. Notably, it is set to host the launches of the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation within this year.

In addition to these ambitious projects, Iran is also working on a one-ton satellite testing laboratory. Currently, 60% of the physical construction of this facility has been completed, with partial operations expected to commence by the end of the year, ahead of the initially planned completion in 2026.

These developments reflect Iran’s commitment to expanding its capabilities in space exploration and technology, positioning the nation as an emerging player in the global space sector. As Iran continues to advance its space program, it is poised to make significant contributions to satellite technology and human spaceflight in the near future.

Stay tuned for further updates on Iran’s space initiatives as they unfold in the coming months. The country’s efforts indicate a strong dedication to not only launching satellites but also paving the way for future human exploration beyond Earth.
