Iran-Russia Alliance: Putin’s Adviser Highlights Growing Importance of Strategic Cooperation

In the context of a shifting global landscape, Tehran-Moscow cooperation is becoming increasingly pivotal as highlighted by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s economic adviser, Anton Kobyakov. This growing partnership underscores the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world order.

Kobyakov made these insightful remarks during a recent meeting with Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali in Moscow, where they assessed bilateral relations. Here are some key points from their discussion:

  • Kobyakov hailed the signing of a long-term comprehensive treaty between Russia and Iran as a significant milestone.
  • He praised Ambassador Jalali for his dedication in advancing the treaty process.
  • The invitation extended to Iranian public and private sectors to participate in events such as the St. Petersburg Economic Forum demonstrates Russia’s enthusiasm for collaboration with Iran.

In response, Ambassador Jalali emphasized the shared perspectives of both nations on key regional and international issues. He stated that the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Treaty and the execution of the Iran-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement would further solidify ties between Tehran and Moscow.

Jalali also expressed Iran’s commitment to enhancing trade relations with Russia and urged for greater participation in specialized exhibitions organized by both countries.

The meeting coincided with the presence of several Iranian delegations in Moscow, including representatives from the 18th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission. This commission is co-chaired by the Iranian Minister of Petroleum and the Russian Minister of Energy, representing their respective nations.

Prior to the joint commission, Ambassador Jalali met with Meysam Abedi, the deputy ICT minister for technology and innovation. Abedi highlighted the purpose of his visit, which focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including:

  3. Artificial Intelligence
  4. Startups
  5. The Digital Economy

Additionally, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Head of the Cinema Organization, Raed Faridzadeh, visited Moscow to attend the Eurasian Film Academy and also met with Jalali on Tuesday.
