Iran Asserts Unwavering Right to Peaceful Nuclear Energy, Says Araqchi

In a recent statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that Iran’s right to utilize peaceful nuclear energy is non-negotiable. This assertion comes as part of ongoing discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program and international relations.

During a phone call on Sunday night, Araqchi provided his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, with updates on the latest developments in indirect talks between Iran and the United States. He also discussed a recent meeting involving Iran and the three European nations: France, Britain, and Germany.

Araqchi highlighted the importance of respecting Iran’s legitimate nuclear rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He stated, “If there is genuine political will on the other side and respect for Iran’s rights, Tehran is ready to pursue a win-win interaction in exchange for the termination of sanctions.”

The ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington have featured four rounds of discussions mediated by Oman, focusing on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions. Key points from Araqchi’s discussions include:

  • Emphasis on Iran’s non-negotiable rights to peaceful nuclear energy.
  • Need for genuine political will from the U.S. and other negotiating parties.
  • Commitment to a win-win interaction in exchange for sanction relief.
  • Recognition of the constructive diplomatic approach taken by Iran.

In response, Fidan commended the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic efforts and expressed Turkey’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance in these negotiations. The dialogue continues as both nations seek a pathway toward a mutually beneficial resolution.
