The upcoming eighth national information technology (IT) award is set to take place on February 26 in Tehran, highlighting the significance of innovation and digital transformation in the tech landscape. Organized by the Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology, commonly referred to as Irandoc, this prestigious event aims to promote advanced technologies, particularly focusing on the theme of ‘Artificial Intelligence: entrepreneurship, society, and government’.

This year’s IT award ceremony is designed to achieve several key objectives:

  • Showcase Achievements: It aims to highlight remarkable accomplishments across various fields of IT.
  • Promote Interactions: The event will encourage collaboration among experts in social and human sciences, policy management, and engineering sciences.
  • Interdisciplinary Approach: It seeks to enhance the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to artificial intelligence in both science and information technology.
  • Think-Tank Meetings: The event will host discussions on the applications of artificial intelligence in products and policy-making.

The awards ceremony will consist of several key segments, each contributing to the development and promotion of information technology in Iran:

The Iranian government places significant emphasis on developing plans and policies aimed at maximizing the benefits of ICT for the populace. A prime example of this growth is the successful design, construction, and launch of satellites, which exemplifies the national technological and scientific advancements of the country.

Space technology is increasingly recognized as a vital tool for enhancing prosperity, peace, and scientific-cultural development, as well as fostering economic progress in societies worldwide. Different nations utilize this technology based on their unique capacities, capabilities, and efforts.

In terms of education and expertise, Iran boasts 13 universities and a research institute affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology that offer aerospace majors. This positions Iran as a leading country in the region, with a robust capability to train specialists and experts in the aerospace sector.

Furthermore, access to telecommunication services in rural areas has significantly improved. The number of villages with access to communication services has risen dramatically, now reaching 52,182, which accounts for approximately 93 percent of all villages. Additionally, 47,837 villages have access to landline services, further enhancing connectivity across the country.
