China’s Innovative Education Initiatives Shine at CIPCC: A Global Spotlight on Transformative Learning

On Wednesday morning, foreign journalists participating in the CIPCC initiative visited the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing. The visit started with a warm welcome and an impressive performance by the newly established Weifeng Gong and Drum Team.

Zhongrui Chen, a master’s student in international journalism at CUC, shared insights about the Weifeng Gong and Drum, highlighting it as a traditional Chinese folk music art that is recognized as one of China’s intangible cultural heritages. He noted its historical significance, stating, “It was performed at the 1990 Beijing Asian Games opening ceremony.” Chen also mentioned that the team had dedicated over two months to perfecting their performance.

The CIPCC media exchange program participants gained firsthand knowledge of the country’s radio, television, and film industries, which boast a rich history of over a century.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Information Accessibility Lab, one of CUC’s key innovation laboratories. Here, journalists learned about a transformative film initiative aimed at supporting individuals with visual impairments. This initiative includes the Guangming Cinema, or Bright Cinema, which produces audio-described films tailored for the visually impaired.

The 2025 program has achieved a remarkable milestone by inviting over 120 journalists from more than 100 countries, setting a new record for the largest number of journalists invited since the program’s inception in 2014.
