Breaking: Fifth Round of Iran-U.S. Nuclear Talks Wraps Up – What’s Next?

The fifth round of negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States has recently concluded in Rome, Italy, marking a significant moment in diplomatic relations. This session, focusing on critical topics, involved key figures such as Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Steve Witkoff, the U.S. president’s special envoy for the Middle East.

According to Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions were conducted in a professional environment. He emphasized that:

  • The negotiations took place in a calm and reasonable atmosphere.
  • Further details will be shared once the talks are officially concluded.

Araqchi arrived in Rome on Friday to engage in these indirect talks, which were once again mediated by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi. The Iranian delegation included:

  • Baqaei
  • Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi
  • Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi
  • Several other diplomats and experts

Before his departure for Rome, Araqchi shared his insights on social media platform X, stating, “Figuring out the path to a deal is not rocket science: Zero nuclear weapons = we DO have a deal. Zero enrichment = we do NOT have a deal.”

After the negotiations, Al-Busaidi also took to X to comment on the outcome, stating, “The fifth round of Iran US talks have concluded today in Rome with some but not conclusive progress. We hope to clarify the remaining issues in the coming days, to allow us to proceed towards the common goal of reaching a sustainable and honourable agreement.”
