40th International Fajr Music Festival: Celebrating Global Talent with 6 Renowned Musicians and Bands!
The 40th International Fajr Music Festival is set to elevate the artistic quality of music in Iran while showcasing the country’s rich musical heritage. At a recent press conference held at Vahdat Hall in Tehran, Ahmad Sadri, the head of the Music Office at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, emphasized the festival’s commitment to serious and art music, stating that they have invited a range of professionals to enhance the experience.
Reza Mahdavi, the festival’s secretary, shared his vision for the festival, expressing the ambition to see Iranian music thrive on the international stage. He remarked, “We are all striving to make Iranian music flourish beyond its current state and establish an international reputation for it.”
Mahdavi further highlighted the festival’s global recognition, noting that many esteemed musicians are eager to participate. He expressed hope that future editions would foster competition in the international section, with both foreign and Iranian judges evaluating performances.
Mohammad Ali Merati, the festival’s executive director, provided insights into the logistics of this year’s event. He announced that ten venues across Tehran have been designated for music performances, indicating the festival’s expansive reach.
- This year, the festival will feature a remarkable 1,464 musicians, marking a 40% increase in participation compared to the previous edition.
- There will be 106 bands attending, including six international groups, despite various challenges faced in organizing the event.
In response to a question from the Tehran Times regarding the nationalities of the international participants, Merati revealed that musicians from Spain, The Netherlands, Turkey, Tunisia, India, and Armenia will be gracing the festival stages. During the conference, the festival poster was also unveiled, featuring a nightingale, a symbol deeply rooted in Iranian music culture. This visual representation reflects the festival’s dedication to preserving and promoting the artistic traditions of the nation.
The 40th International Fajr Music Festival is organized under the auspices of the Deputy of Artistic Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in collaboration with the Music Office, the Iran Music Association, and the Rudaki Foundation. The festival aims to:
