Foreign Minister Joins Human Rights Council Session in Geneva: A Focus on Global Advocacy

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is set to represent Iran at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. This significant event will focus on various pressing human rights issues and is a vital platform for international dialogue.

Araqchi’s journey to Geneva commenced on Sunday evening from Beirut, Lebanon, where he attended the funeral of prominent Hezbollah leaders, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Saffieddine. This visit underscores the intersection of regional politics and international diplomacy.

The Human Rights Council session will officially begin on Monday and is scheduled to continue until April 4. During this time, Araqchi is expected to:

  • Participate in the 2025 Conference on Disarmament High-level Segment, which will also commence on the same day and last for four days.
  • Engage in discussions with foreign ministers from other countries.
