Iranian Delegation Engages in Key Talks with Lebanese President in Beirut

In a significant diplomatic event, an Iranian government delegation has traveled to Beirut to attend the funeral of prominent resistance leaders Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine. This meeting underscores the importance of regional unity and cooperation amidst ongoing challenges.

The delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, engaged in discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday, focusing on the latest developments in the region. The attendees included:

  • Ebrahim Azizi – Head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament
  • Abolfazl Amouei – Special assistant for international affairs to the Parliament speaker
  • Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian – Lawmaker

Qalibaf and his team arrived in Lebanon on Sunday morning to partake in the historic funeral for Nasrallah, the long-serving leader of Hezbollah, and his successor, Safieddine, both of whom were tragically assassinated by the Israeli regime late last year.

Before his departure, Qalibaf emphasized the significance of the funeral, referring to it as a pivotal moment for the grandeur of the Resistance Front, the Islamic world, and the Lebanese populace. He stated:

“During his lifetime, Nasrallah was a source of pride and dignity for the Islamic world. He was widely recognized as a symbol of the fight against Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.”

Qalibaf further remarked that despite the martyrdom of its resistance leaders, Lebanon remains proud and has successfully restored security to its territory following months of Israeli aggression.

This visit highlights the ongoing solidarity among nations in the face of adversity and the enduring spirit of resistance against oppression.
