Iran Steps Up: Essential Measures to Aid Nationals Expelled from the US
In a recent development, Iran’s Interest Section in Washington, D.C. has taken significant steps to support Iranian expatriates who have been expelled from the United States and relocated to Panama. This move highlights Iran’s ongoing commitment to its citizens abroad.
The announcement comes in the wake of the transportation of 119 immigrants from various Asian nations, which includes:
- Afghanistan
- Iran
- Uzbekistan
- Sri Lanka
- Turkey
- Pakistan
- China
These individuals were flown to Panama on a military aircraft on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Iran’s Interest Section made a statement affirming its commitment to assist these nationals in collaboration with the Iranian embassy in Colombia, which is also accredited in Panama. The Interest Section expressed concern regarding the U.S. government’s actions, criticizing the deportations that occurred without prior notification to Iran and without adequate consular arrangements for the deportees.
Furthermore, the U.S. has ramped up its deportation efforts as part of President Donald Trump’s stringent immigration policy, which has been in effect since he began his second term on January 20.
In a previous statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei emphasized Tehran’s dedication to safeguarding the rights of Iranian nationals abroad, assuring that the government would leave no stone unturned in this endeavor.
