Time to Rise: Breaking Free from Our Slumber!

As the deadline for the 60-day ceasefire approaches on January 26, tensions in Lebanon are escalating, particularly with Israeli violations of the truce in both the southern and northern regions of the Litani River. In this critical context, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set to visit Lebanon on Friday to preside over the fourth meeting of a five-member committee aimed at discussing the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from southern Lebanese territories and the establishment of the Lebanese army in border towns.

The previous meeting, led by Amos Hochstein, the US envoy to West Asia, had outlined plans to deploy the Lebanese army across the entire western sector between January 7 and 23. However, these plans were thwarted by the intensifying attacks from the Israeli occupation forces, including bulldozing and bombing operations.

It is important to note that the skies above southern Lebanon are not just filled with Israeli spy drones. Recently, during the visit of US General Jasper Jeffers, the head of the committee, US drones were also observed flying over the area, monitoring geographical coordinates. According to military sources, these drones are believed to have originated from military bases located in the Western Galilee settlements within the occupied Palestinian territories.

In addition to US drones, there have also been reports of surveillance drones operated by UNIFIL forces, tasked with monitoring Hezbollah’s military facilities. The occupation forces have issued warnings to Lebanese army soldiers against approaching the separation wall in Ras al-Naqoura, asserting that they have treated this liberated area as a buffer zone for years.

Simultaneously, the previously concealed colonial schemes are now being openly discussed. Israeli and American officials appear increasingly unrestrained in announcing their expansionist ambitions, showing a blatant disregard for international law, particularly concerning the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.

  • These developments coincide with the return of Donald Trump, who is rumored to have ambitions regarding Greenland and the Panama Canal.
  • Israel Katz, the Israeli war minister, has hinted at plans to divide Syria into cantons.
  • The genocidal conflict in Gaza continues unabated.
  • Settlement expansions in the West Bank and Jerusalem are persisting.
  • Political instability in Lebanon is ongoing, alongside threats of aggression against Yemen and potential strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

This situation underscores the aggressive tendencies of US and Israeli leadership, who are keen to seize any opportunity to pursue their imperialist objectives. However, this colonial bravado is likely to be short-lived, as these adversaries are acutely aware of the resilience of resistance forces and the unwavering support of a sovereign ally like Iran.

Trump’s current strategy prioritizes containing China, a task that presents considerable challenges. This imperative may eventually compel Washington to reconsider its intense involvement in West Asia, particularly in the face of strong reactions against attempts to divide the region.

With Trump focused on managing the “limited” capabilities of the United States, there is a pressing need to bring the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to a close. Such a resolution would necessitate curbing Netanyahu’s ambitions to some extent, as noted by Elridge Colby, a prospective assistant to the US Secretary of Defense.

Historically, both Republican and Democratic US administrations have emphasized the necessity of containing China, alleviating the burdens of West Asia, and addressing the economic, technological, and social challenges facing American citizens. However, their ideological leanings towards Zionism have often obstructed these objectives. Consequently, it is improbable that the current Trump administration, which includes staunch Zionists, will deviate from this established path.

Nonetheless, even a minor indication of an American withdrawal from West Asia could prompt the occupying forces to reinforce their military, security, and political presence, as they would perceive their very existence to be under threat.

This situation highlights the steadfastness of the Axis of Resistance in the region and reinforces its legitimacy. Ultimately, uniting the Lebanese nation is crucial for securing its independence and freedom.
