Iran’s Parliament Speaker Condemns Foreign Interference in Regional Affairs
In a recent statement, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, strongly condemned foreign interference in regional affairs during the 15th Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) plenary session held in Baku. This highlights Iran’s commitment to maintaining regional sovereignty and unity.
While meeting with Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Ghalibaf emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with neighboring countries. He stated that true friendship exists between Iran and Azerbaijan, and both nations must work together to enhance this relationship.

Azerbaijan’s Support for Regional Cooperation
During the meeting, Gafarova expressed support for the 3+3 talks policy, emphasizing the need for regional countries to address local issues. She acknowledged that new conditions in the South Caucasus have created opportunities for enhanced multilateral and bilateral relations.
The 15th APA Plenary Session
The APA plenary session, chaired by Azerbaijan, commenced on Wednesday morning and is attended by a delegation of 35 members and nearly 280 representatives. Several significant topics are on the agenda, as the APA serves as a vital platform for parliamentary diplomacy among Asian nations.
Future Leadership of the APA
In a recent post, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Iran is set to assume the chairmanship of the APA in 2027-2028. Currently, Azerbaijan holds the presidency of this influential international body.
