Fajr Music Festival: Iranian and Indian Musicians Unite for an Unforgettable Cultural Celebration!

The 40th International Fajr Music Festival is an exceptional event that celebrates the rich heritage of music, featuring a diverse array of artists from around the globe. This year’s festival, titled “The Encounter,” is a significant platform for both Iranian and international musicians, showcasing their talents and cultural influences.

According to Tehran Times, the concert “The Encounter” was masterfully orchestrated by renowned Iranian musician Vahid Airian. The event brought together distinguished Indian artists such as Amano Manish on slide guitar, Uday Ramdas on tabla, and Pavan Shrikant Naik who handled vocals and harmonium. They shared the stage with a talented group of Iranian musicians, including:

  • Mojtaba Kalantari Khorrami (daf)
  • Alireza Shahbazi (guitar)
  • Nasrin Abdolvand (vocalist/tanbur player)
  • Sarina Amrollahi (vocalist/tanbur player)
  • Zahra Gomari (vocalist/tanbur player)

  • Babak Ghiasvand (vocalist/tanbur player)

The festival is currently taking place at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall and features a lineup of international musicians. Some of the notable participants include:

  • Spanish flamenco guitarists Daniel Casares and Antonio Maldonado

A particularly exciting aspect of this year’s festival is a collaborative performance by Afro Anatolian Tales from the Netherlands and the Nushe Band from Iran. The Afro Anatolian Tales ensemble features:

Moreover, the festival extends its reach with the participation of Levon Tevanyan from Armenia and Farah Fersi from Tunisia, adding to the global flavor of the event.

The 40th International Fajr Music Festival is organized by the Deputy of Artistic Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This collaboration involves the Music Office of the Culture Ministry, the Iran Music Association, and the Rudaki Foundation. The festival aims to:

  1. Showcase and honor the best works of Iranian musicians.
  2. Promote the art of music and enhance the audience’s taste.
  3. Preserve national identity rooted in religious and Iranian teachings.
  4. Support creative art, especially ideas and performances by the younger generation.

In addition to the international acts, this year’s festival features an impressive roster of over 100 Iranian bands, comprising more than 1,400 musicians. The festival is divided into two sections: competitive and non-competitive, and it will continue until February 17 in Tehran.
