Iran and Saudi Arabia Unite Against Netanyahu’s Controversial Remarks on Palestine

In a recent telephone conversation, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed serious concerns about escalating tensions surrounding the US-Israeli proposals regarding Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. These remarks highlight the critical issues affecting peace and security in the region.

Araghchi characterized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s suggestions as a “brazen act of provocation.” He warned that such rhetoric is indicative of the expansionist goals of the Israeli regime and poses a substantial threat to stability in West Asia. He stated, “These remarks are a clear indication of the unprecedented recklessness of the occupying regime and pose a direct threat to peace and security in the region,” as reported by PressTV.

Key points raised during the conversation include:

  • The Israeli government’s attempts to erase Palestinian identity through forced displacement and illegal settlements.
  • The US’s role in seeking ownership of Gaza as part of a so-called “rebuilding” plan, originally proposed by President Donald Trump.
  • Trump’s controversial claim that the two million Palestinians living in Gaza would find “better housing” elsewhere.

Araghchi condemned the US-Israeli proposals aimed at forcibly relocating Palestinians, labeling them as part of a broader colonial strategy to undermine Palestinian sovereignty. He urged the international community to take decisive actions against what he described as a systematic attempt to erase the Palestinian cause of liberation from Western-backed Israeli occupation.

Additionally, Iran has called for an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address these pressing issues. Araghchi emphasized the importance of both regional and international cooperation to counter what he warned were attempts to normalize genocide and lawlessness by the Israeli regime.

During the call, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan conveyed his country’s opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or other territories. He echoed Araghchi’s concerns, dismissing Netanyahu’s remarks as a non-starter while reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Palestinian self-determination.

In response to Trump’s statements, the Palestinian Resistance Committees, representing several resistance movements, issued a robust condemnation. They criticized his comments as delusional and indicative of historical American arrogance towards oppressed nations. Their statement emphasized:

  • “The land of Gaza is soaked with the blood of thousands of martyrs and wounded civilians. It is not for sale, and it will always be a graveyard and a nightmare for occupiers and tyrants.”
  • Trump’s remarks about displacing Palestinians reflect his ignorance and are rooted in an illusion of absolute power.

Despite these inflammatory statements, the Palestinian people are determined to remain steadfast in their land, resisting any forms of forced displacement. Hamas spokesperson Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua also condemned Trump’s remarks, asserting that Gaza is not a mere real estate commodity but an integral part of Palestinian heritage. He was quoted in an interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera as saying:

“The occupation seeks to evade its commitments under existing agreements, but we remain committed to resistance.”

In a united front, five Arab nations—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan—have collectively rejected Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza’s population into Egypt and Jordan. They sent a letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasizing that any reconstruction efforts in Gaza must involve its own people. The letter underscored that:

  • Palestinians should not be forcibly removed from their land.
  • Rebuilding efforts should include active Palestinian participation and international support rather than displacement.

The situation remains tense and complex as the international community watches closely. The urgency for a peaceful resolution that respects Palestinian rights and sovereignty is more critical than ever. As statements from key figures highlight the ongoing struggle, the call for solidarity and action against escalating aggression continues to resonate across the region.
