Trump’s Gaza Plan: A ‘Dangerous Plot’ to Erase Palestine, Warns Araghchi

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has voiced strong opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plan to forcibly relocate a significant number of Palestinians from Gaza. He characterizes this plan as part of a larger colonial agenda aimed at eradicating Palestine.

During a meeting in Tehran on Sunday with Muhammad Ismail Darwish, chairman of Hamas’ Shura Council, and other Palestinian resistance leaders, Araghchi articulated his concerns. He stated, “The U.S. president’s plan to forcibly transfer the Palestinian people outside of Gaza is in line with a colonial plot to eliminate Palestine, and is against all regulations of international law and treaties, and most importantly, it is against humanitarian principles and is totally rejected.”

Araghchi emphasized the necessity for Islamic nations to present a unified and resolute response to “this dangerous plot.” He noted that he has already initiated a call for an emergency meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) during a conversation with the OIC secretary general on Saturday.

Further addressing the visiting Hamas officials, Araghchi remarked that Israel has not succeeded in its objectives during the devastating conflict in Gaza. He pointed out that the Israeli regime was compelled to negotiate a ceasefire deal with Hamas, which had been a primary target of the war.

In response, Muhammad Darwish condemned Trump’s Gaza initiative, asserting that no force can drive the residents of the besieged territory from their homeland. He highlighted the resilience of the Palestinian people, who have endured over 15 months of violence and oppression from the Zionist regime.

Darwish and his delegation also met separately with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on the same day. Darwish stated that the Al Aqsa Storm Operation, launched by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, symbolizes a triumph of the oppressed against their oppressors. He further noted that the resistance across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, along with Iran’s military actions against Israel, have transformed the regime’s deterrence into a state of “strategic vulnerability.”

Ahmadian congratulated the Hamas representatives on their successes during the Gaza conflict, acknowledging the significant achievements of the resistance movement on the international stage. He remarked that global support for Palestine has surged following the Gaza war, with even Western and European officials now recognizing the need to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to continue supporting the people of Gaza and Lebanon in their ongoing struggle against the Israeli regime.
