Iran President: OPEC Unity Crucial for Countering US Sanctions on Member Nations

In a recent statement highlighting the significance of unity among OPEC members, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that solidarity is crucial for safeguarding against potential sanctions from the United States. Pezeshkian met with Haitham al-Ghais, the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), on Wednesday in Tehran. During this meeting, Pezeshkian extended his congratulations to al-Ghais on his re-election as OPEC’s head and expressed his hopes for his success in this new term.

The President outlined several key areas where cooperation among OPEC members is essential:
