While addressing officials from Ilam province, Salehi-Amiri highlighted the region’s immense potential in tourism, stating that “Ilam is one of the centers of Iranian civilization” and is known for its warm hospitality and rich handicrafts. He emphasized that the province holds a unique status in the tourism sector, not only due to its historical and cultural significance but also as a destination for millions of pilgrims visiting sacred sites.
After inaugurating tourism projects in Qazvin, he remarked that “Qazvin is a province rooted in Iranian civilization,” boasting remarkable historical monuments like the Saad-ol-Saltaneh complex and exquisite handicrafts. He further noted that Qazvin’s proximity to Tehran presents a strategic advantage that can transform it into a key tourism destination.
Salehi-Amiri also spotlighted Khorasan Razavi province, stating its pivotal role as a major hub for pilgrimage tourism in Iran. He pointed out that the province has made significant strides in developing other tourism areas as well. “The appropriate infrastructure of this province has made Mashhad a reliable center for holding national and international events,” he remarked, expressing hope that Khorasan Razavi would serve as a model for other provinces.
Following the launch of tourism projects in Bushehr, the minister underlined the importance of marine tourism. He stated that “Bushehr is a vital point in Iran’s geography,” and emphasized the province’s considerable potential in marine tourism. He encouraged further investment in this area, noting that the private sector’s involvement is promising for the future of marine tourism along the southern coastline.
Salehi-Amiri also mentioned Semnan province, highlighting its unique tourism capabilities and its dual role as both an economic and tourism destination. He expressed optimism that Semnan could become a significant tourism hub, especially for desert trekking and hosting Razavi pilgrims. He attributed the success in tourism development to the decisive role of the private sector.
The minister remarked on the beauty of the three northern provinces, stating, “They are the beautiful image of Iran in the minds of domestic and foreign tourists.” He predicted that the launch of marine tourism projects in northern Iran would lead to a notable surge in the tourism industry, particularly in Mazandaran.
Additionally, Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpei, the Deputy Tourism Minister, shared that $160 million has been allocated for the tourism and handicrafts sector this Iranian year, a significant increase from the $25 million allocated in the previous year. He emphasized the importance of identifying the status of tourism within the governance system, stating that Iran’s rich history of over 60,000 years combined with a vibrant private sector can significantly advance various sectors, including tourism.
Mohseni Bandpei also mentioned, “By developing ecotourism and empowering local communities, we can achieve reverse migration and tourism development.” He reiterated the Minister of Economy’s assertion that tourism could act as a driving force for Iran’s economy. Despite ongoing challenges, he affirmed that Iranian tourism remains active in various fields, including pilgrimage and health tourism.

With its rich cultural heritage and diverse tourist attractions, Iran remains one of the world’s most appealing destinations for travelers seeking unique experiences.
