In the realm of international relations, Iran and Azerbaijan stand out due to their deep historical, cultural, and religious connections. Recently, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations based on mutual respect and trust during a meeting with Hikmat Hajiyev, the foreign policy adviser to Azerbaijan’s president.

During their discussions, Araghchi highlighted several key points regarding the relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan:

In response, Hikmat Hajiyev underscored the significance of strengthening ties between the “two neighboring and brotherly countries” as a priority for Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. He acknowledged that both nations possess numerous capacities to enhance bilateral cooperation.

In a separate meeting with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Hajiyev stated that Azerbaijan is dedicated to advancing relations with Iran. He firmly asserted that no foreign country can undermine the strong ties between Tehran and Baku.

Echoing these sentiments, Ahmadian emphasized the brotherly relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan, describing it as a duty to maintain and develop their friendship. He cautioned that both countries should remain vigilant against adversarial attempts to disrupt their ties.
