According to officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the joint programs are designed to:

  • Boost commercial, scientific, and industrial capabilities of both countries.
  • Enhance domestic production in the health sector.

Hamid Inanlou, an official with the FDA, elaborated that a significant portion of the strategic partnership will focus on health sector collaborations. This includes:

  • Sharing expertise and technology.
  • Conducting medical research.
  • Providing training and exchanging specialized human resources.
  • Developing new medicines and health products.

Since early 2016, when President Xi Jinping visited Iran, the two nations have defined their relationship as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). This strategic relationship has witnessed substantial growth, fostering deeper ties in various sectors.

Iran has consistently shown its support for China in numerous areas, including critical national interests and significant international agendas, such as the Belt and Road Initiative. In return, China has backed Iran’s legitimate interests on multiple fronts, including:

  • Support for Iran’s stance on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
  • Backing Iran’s position on women’s rights.
  • Supporting Iran’s membership in organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS.
