Iranian Innovators Shine at IFIA 2025, Winning Prestigious Medals

In recent developments, Iranian inventors have showcased their remarkable ingenuity at the fifth International Invention and Innovation Competition, where they secured numerous prestigious awards. This event, organized by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), took place virtually from August 15 to 17, attracting participants from around the globe. The competition highlighted innovative solutions from various fields, emphasizing the importance of creativity and technological advancement.

During the competition, Iranian participants excelled, achieving a total of five gold medals and four silver medals. Below is a summary of some notable inventions and the talented individuals behind them:

Mohsen Hamidi, a professor at Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran, earned a gold medal for his innovative ‘Personal Sampling Pump’.
Mehdi Moharrampour, a manager at the science and technology park in Buin Zahra, Qazvin, received a gold medal for his ‘Self-sustaining multi-layer capillary hydroponic cultivation system’. Notably, he has won gold medals in both 2023 and 2024.
Mohammad-Hossein Shahbazi and Shahin Shahbazi, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist duo from Ilam, were awarded a gold medal for their invention aimed at managing GERD, featuring a mechanical gel barrier with healing and angiogenic properties.
An Iranian team from Mazandaran province, including Masoud Babaei Kiapi, Hor Rashidi, Mohammad-Reaz, and Hossein Nejati-Moqadam, secured a gold medal for their innovative ‘anti-phishing system for E-banking’.
Erfan Esmaeeli, a PhD student in Health Information Management, won a gold medal for his ‘Sensor-based health monitoring device for pet behavior detection’.

In addition to the gold medalists, several Iranian inventors received silver medals for their groundbreaking projects:

Hamed Mortazavi from Baqiatollah University of Medical Sciences earned a silver medal for his ‘Anti-inflammatory and anti-neoplastic herbal form’.
Yousef Radpouyan, an engineer, was awarded a silver medal for designing and developing a ‘laser gas analyzer using a standard modular methodology’.
Sanay and Sonay Hajirezaei, talented 14-year-old high school students from Tabriz, received silver medals for their projects titled ‘Sanay: Architecture of future city – AI sustainable design’ and ‘Sonay: Fire smart’. They also earned the INV title and membership certificate.

This year’s competition saw a remarkable participation of over 1,100 inventive projects from 27 countries. Inventors from nations including the USA, Canada, Germany, Iran, France, Morocco, Turkey, Russia, Qatar, Kuwait, and others presented innovative solutions aimed at addressing global challenges. The diversity of participants underscored a vital truth: the next generation is ready to confront today’s issues while envisioning a sustainable future.

Iran’s Success at INNOVERSE 2025

In a further demonstration of their capabilities, Iranian students also excelled at the INNOVERSE International Invention & Innovation Expo, clinching a total of 13 medals — three gold, four silver, and six bronze medals. This event, hosted online by the United States on August 24, served as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and intellectual growth across various disciplines.

Ilia Majidzadeh Heravi and Parsa Karimi Yazdi for their invention ‘CommuniMateSmartApp: Solutions for Deaf Communication Challenges’.
Artin Radmatin, Ava Alebouyeh, Baran Bahman, Elyar Ferdosizadeh, Mohammad Hossein Ezzati, for their project ‘Evaluation of the effect of using magnetic gear in improving the performance of process systems based on mechanical gear’.
Niki Abtahi, Parsa Ahmadpour Rahiminejad, Baran Derakhshandeh Daryasari, Sarina Nosrati, Ramiya Rahjou, for their invention ‘Improving the design of pneumatic muscles: Simulation and analysis of the dynamic behavior of the system’, which earned them gold medals.
