The Iranian students have achieved remarkable success by winning five gold medals at the 18th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). This achievement marks Iran’s second consecutive world championship, showcasing the country’s commitment to excellence in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics.

The prestigious event took place from August 11 to 21 in Mumbai, India, and featured over 300 high school students from 64 countries. Participants engaged in several rigorous exams that tested their knowledge in theoretical, observational, and data analysis aspects of astronomy.

The five-member Iranian team consisted of:

  • Ali Naderi Lordjani
  • Arshia Mirshamsi Kakhaki
  • Hossein Soltani
