Iran’s VP Champions Unity Against Unilateralism in Digital and AI Governance
In a significant move to enhance collaboration in the digital and artificial intelligence economy, Iranian Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has highlighted the importance of countering unilateralism. This initiative comes as Aref attends key meetings in Kazakhstan, including the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Prime Ministers’ gathering and the upcoming 2025 Almaty Digital Forum.
During his address at the 2025 Almaty Digital Forum, Aref called on member states to join forces in developing innovative digital and AI products that leverage the vast potential of their economies. His remarks on the second day of the forum underscored the need for collaborative efforts in the digital landscape.
Aref put forth several proposals aimed at fostering cooperation among the EAEU member states, including:
- Connecting communication infrastructure to enhance digital connectivity.
- Integrating laws and facilitating regulations in the digital economy sector.
- Creating and developing common platforms for digital collaboration.
- Countering unilateralism in governance related to the digital and AI economy.
- Developing joint digital products and AI tools to maximize the capabilities of member countries.
In his speech, Aref stressed the urgency for Iran and its regional partners to unite in laying the groundwork for a new era of digital and industrial development. This collaboration is seen as essential for harnessing the full potential of the digital economy.
The discussions at this forum represent a pivotal opportunity for the EAEU member states to strengthen their economic ties and innovate through technology.
