Iran Shines at International Olympiad in Informatics, Securing Prestigious Medals
In a remarkable display of talent, Iranian students have triumphed at the 37th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held in Sucre, Bolivia, showcasing their exceptional skills in algorithmic challenges. The event, which commenced on July 27 and is set to conclude on August 3, has drawn participation from 330 contestants representing 84 countries.
Among the standout performers, Amir-Ali Asgari secured a prestigious gold medal, while Mani Zare and Hamed Ghafari each earned silver medals. Additionally, Kiarash Rezaei claimed a bronze medal, as reported by ISNA.
The IOI is a highly esteemed international science Olympiad that occurs annually, bringing together talented high school students from around the globe. Participants engage in a rigorous algorithmic competition designed to enhance their informatics skills, which include:

Recent Achievements of Iranian Students
The success of Iranian students extends beyond the IOI. In another remarkable feat, they won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the Eighth International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2025, held from July 20 to 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This year, the competition featured 68 participating countries.
Winning silver medals were Mohsen Payandeh-Peyman and Abolfazl Modir-Roosta, while Parsa Sedaqat and Alireza Ahmadi secured bronze medals, as reported by IRNA.
Additionally, Iranian students excelled at the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2025), where they clinched three gold medals and one silver medal, ranking second among 81 countries—an improvement from their third-place finish in 2024. The event took place from July 19 to 27 in Quezon City, Philippines.
The gold medalists included Siavash Pezeshpour, Ali Soleimanzadeh Kalahroudi, and Ali-Akbar Nourollahi, while Radin Bayani earned the silver medal, as reported by PANA.
In the realm of physics, five Iranian students achieved silver medals at the 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), placing 11th globally. This prestigious event was held from July 18 to 24 in Paris, attracting 440 candidates from over 90 countries. The talented silver medalists were Mohammad-Hassan Sadeqinejad Simaki, Arya Zarabi, Ilya Qashaee, Mohammad-Hassan Golabdar, and Milad Mohammadi, as reported by IRIB.
Moreover, Iranian students showcased their mathematical prowess by winning two gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025), held from July 10 to 20 in Australia. This impressive achievement further solidifies their reputation in the global academic arena.
