Leading Knowledge-Based Companies Showcase Innovations at Arab Health 2025

The Arab Health Exhibition 2025 has become a significant event for Iranian Knowledge-based firms, showcasing their innovative contributions to the healthcare sector. Supported by the Organization for Development of International Cooperation in Science and Technology and the Innovation and Prosperity Fund, seven Iranian companies participated in this prestigious exhibition held from January 27 to 30 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Themed ‘Where the World of Healthcare Meets’, the exhibition attracted over 3,800 exhibitors and welcomed more than 60,000 visitors. This event served as an exceptional platform for innovation, collaboration, and education in the healthcare industry.

Exhibitors from more than 40 countries, including Germany, the United States, England, China, India, Iran, and France, participated in this year’s exhibition, according to reports from ISNA. The event provided a prime opportunity for Knowledge-based companies to display their latest products, services, and advancements in medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and modern health technologies.

Iran’s pavilion was specifically designed to enhance non-oil exports, expand international interactions, and showcase the country’s capabilities in healthcare and medicine. The pavilion received positive feedback from visitors, highlighting the potential of Iranian firms on a global scale.

Increase in Medicine Exports

During the first half of the current Iranian year, which began on March 20, 2024, Iran has achieved significant growth in its medicine exports. The country exported medicines worth $104.6 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.7 percent.

  • The exports amounted to 49,400 tons in volume, reflecting a 15 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
  • According to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Customs Administration, approximately 345 companies were involved in the production of medicines, supplements, and raw materials, along with the importation of pharmaceuticals during this six-month period.

Pharmaceutical companies also imported a total of 54,800 tons of commodities valued at $1.1 billion. This indicates a 3.76 percent decrease in volume but a 4.5 percent increase in value compared to the same period last year, as reported by IRNA.

In June 2024, Seyyed Ali Maboudi, an official from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced plans to further increase pharmaceutical exports by 30 percent in the mid-term. He stated, “In the past years, medicine exports in Iran accounted for a small share of non-oil exports. However, over the past year, it experienced a growing trend,” as quoted by IRNA.

Maboudi highlighted that the exports of raw materials and pharmaceutical products throughout the previous Iranian calendar year (March 2023-March 2024) were valued at more than $100 million. He also mentioned, “The Food and Drug Administration is planning to double the medicine exports in the short term and tenfold in the long term.”

The positive trajectory in Iran’s pharmaceutical exports reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its position in the global healthcare market. As Iranian firms continue to innovate and expand their reach, the participation in international exhibitions like Arab Health not only enhances visibility but also fosters partnerships that can lead to further growth.

In conclusion, the Arab Health Exhibition 2025 has played a vital role in showcasing Iranian healthcare innovations, contributing to an increase in medicine exports, and positioning the country as a key player in the global pharmaceutical industry. The future looks promising as Iran aims to capitalize on its strengths and expand its presence in the international market.
