The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has sent a substantial aid shipment of 1,000 tons to support individuals affected by the conflict in Lebanon. This includes tents, blankets, food, and medical supplies, particularly for vulnerable groups like children. IRCS head Pirhossein Kolivand discussed the urgent situation in Lebanon with UN Resident Coordinator Stefan Priesner, condemning ongoing attacks and warning of a potential genocide if they continue. Kolivand emphasized the need for further assistance and collaboration with the UN, while Priesner praised the IRCS’s efforts and highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of aid workers in the region.
Iran has launched its first national production line for electroporation systems, becoming Asia’s leader in this advanced cancer treatment technology. The inauguration ceremony took place at the University of Tehran. The electroporation device enhances the effectiveness of anti-cancer drugs by using electrical pulses to increase cancer cell permeability. It has already benefited over a thousand patients, with over 200 cases avoiding amputation. Additionally, Iran developed a new synthesis method for Technetium (99mTc) tilmanocept, enhancing cancer diagnostics. These innovations reflect Iran’s commitment to healthcare self-sufficiency and set a precedent for effective, domestically produced cancer treatments in the region.
Iran’s National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB) has developed an innovative anti-cancer vaccine set to launch this summer, aiming to prevent all cancer types. Alongside this, NIGEB has introduced two critical healthcare products: intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIg) and albumin, both now available domestically. IVIg is essential for patients with congenital immunodeficiency, while albumin is crucial for those with kidney and liver diseases. NIGEB, established in 1989, promotes biotechnology advancements through research and training, enhancing Iran’s role in global health initiatives and biotechnology innovation, with a focus on international collaboration and addressing socio-economic impacts.
The Royan International Twin Congress will occur in Tehran from September 3 to 5, featuring the 26th Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine, the 21st Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and the 20th Seminar on Nursery and Midwifery. The first symposium on artificial intelligence in health will be held in Tehran this summer, organized by Amirkabir University of Technology.
