Accompanied by Iranian officials and lawmakers, Qalibaf will honor Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the former Hezbollah secretary-general assassinated in an Israeli airstrike, and his deputy Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, killed shortly after. The funeral in southern Lebanon signifies a pivotal moment for Hezbollah and its supporters, emphasizing Iran’s influence in regional affairs and the implications for broader geopolitical issues. The Iranian Parliament held a tribute to honor the Martyrs of Service on the first anniversary of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of then-President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions. The event featured senior officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, as well as military leaders and the martyrs’ families. On May 19, 2024, Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and six others died in the crash in East Azerbaijan Province. Raisi was buried at the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad. Pezeshkian visited the martyrs’ families before the anniversary to express condolences.
