Iran Calls for Accountability of U.S. and Allies Over Gaza Genocide Complicity

Iran has issued a strong condemnation of a recent Israeli airstrike targeting a school that served as a shelter for displaced Palestinians in Gaza. This attack highlights the urgent need for accountability, particularly for the United States and other Western nations that support the Israeli regime amidst ongoing humanitarian crises.

In a statement released on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei expressed deep concern over the escalation of Israeli aggression in Gaza. Notable incidents include:

  • The attack on the Fahmi al-Jarjawi school in central Gaza City, which resulted in the deaths of over 50 innocent Palestinians.
  • A tragic incident in Khan Younis where nine children from a Palestinian doctor’s family were killed.

Baqaei characterized the Israeli assaults on camps and shelters for displaced Palestinians as blatant war crimes that align with a colonial genocidal agenda against the Palestinian people. He also noted the international community’s muted response, which has emboldened the Israeli regime to continue its atrocities without restraint.

According to Baqaei, the situation in Gaza amplifies the need for the international community to take immediate action to protect the oppressed Palestinian population. He also condemned the extremist actions of Zionist settlers in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds, including assaults on the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“It is the legal and moral duty of all countries and international organizations to intervene,” Baqaei stated, emphasizing the need to halt the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime. He warned against the normalization of violence, destruction of homes, and occupation of Palestinian land.

Baqaei highlighted the direct responsibility of nations supporting the Israeli regime, particularly the U.S., Britain, and select European countries, for the actions taken by the occupying forces. He criticized these nations for obstructing justice and accountability, particularly regarding the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“The lack of accountability for Israeli officials and decision-makers is primarily due to these countries’ efforts to hinder judicial processes,” he stressed. “They must be held accountable for their complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza,” Baqaei concluded.
