South Pars Gas Production Set to Surge by 15 Million Cubic Meters Daily!

In a recent discussion at the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, also known as the “Iran Oil Show 2025,” Gholamabbas Hosseini emphasized the significant investment opportunities in Iran’s gas sector. The South Pars Complex, recognized as the largest gas facility in the Middle East, plays a pivotal role in meeting Iran’s energy needs.

The South Pars Complex produces approximately 600 million cubic meters of sweet gas daily, which accounts for a remarkable 73% of Iran’s gas demand. Furthermore, it serves as a vital supply source for the Persian Gulf Star Refinery. Hosseini underscored the complex’s economic importance, highlighting its contribution to generating foreign currency through the sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

During the exhibition, several key investment opportunities were outlined, particularly in the manufacturing of essential gas industry equipment. These opportunities focus on:

  • Rotors
  • Compressors
  • Turbines

Hosseini described how these components could significantly enhance productivity in what has been declared the “Year of Investments for Production.” He reflected on the previous year’s achievements, which included:

  • Rapid installation of two turbines
  • A boost in the 13th refinery’s output by 12 million cubic meters daily
  • Increased capacity at the Jam Gas Refinery facilitating greater extraction from the Kangan fields
  • A production record of 3.5 billion cubic meters more than the previous year

Looking ahead, Hosseini shared insights on future plans, stating, “This year, we began major overhauls in March—the first-time maintenance has started this early—with a clear, pre-announced schedule.” This proactive approach to maintenance is expected to conclude by October 2025. The anticipated outcome is a significant increase in daily production, ranging from 10 to 15 million cubic meters, thanks to the expanded output of the 13th refinery.

The emphasis on early maintenance and strategic investments showcases Iran’s commitment to enhancing its gas infrastructure and meeting domestic and international energy demands. As the country continues to focus on innovation and modernization within the gas sector, the potential for growth and increased foreign investment remains robust.

In summary, the insights shared by Gholamabbas Hosseini at the Iran Oil Show 2025 highlight the strategic importance of the South Pars Complex and its role in the broader context of Iran’s energy sector. With targeted investments in manufacturing and infrastructure improvements, the future looks promising for the Iranian gas industry.
