Iran Celebrates Oman-Mediated Ceasefire Ending U.S. Strikes in Yemen

In a significant diplomatic development, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson for Iran, Esmaeil Baqaei, has welcomed Oman’s recent statement regarding the cessation of U.S. attacks on Yemen. This move comes as regional countries continue to stand in solidarity with the Yemeni people’s legendary resistance against foreign aggression.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Baqaei highlighted the unwavering strength of the Yemeni nation. He noted their support for the Palestinians in the face of ongoing Israeli genocide and occupation, as well as their resilience against repeated aggressions by the United States over the past year.

Key points from Baqaei’s statement include:

  • Appreciation for the Omani government’s role in mediating a ceasefire between Washington and Sana’a.
  • A call for the international community to take immediate and effective steps to stop Israeli attacks on Yemen.
  • An accusation against the U.S. government for complicity in crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Yemeni people.

Earlier, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi confirmed the establishment of a truce deal between the United States and Yemen. He stated, “Following recent discussions and contacts conducted by the Sultanate of Oman with the United States and the relevant authorities in Sana’a, Republic of Yemen, aimed at de-escalation, efforts have resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the two sides.” This announcement was made in a post on X.

In recent months, the United States and the Israeli regime have conducted numerous airstrikes on Yemen, targeting essential facilities in an effort to undermine Yemeni support for the Palestinians. In response, the Yemeni Armed Forces have targeted shipping linked to Israel and the U.S. in the Red Sea, as well as launching missile strikes on Israeli-occupied territories.

On Wednesday, the Ansarullah movement clarified that the ceasefire agreement with the United States does not encompass operations against the Israeli regime, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to resistance.
