36th Tehran International Book Fair: 2,363 Domestic Publishers Set to Showcase Literary Treasures

The 36th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) is poised to be an exciting event this year, as more publishers from the general category have expressed interest in participating compared to last year. Ebrahim Heidari, the spokesperson and deputy director of the fair, shared this information during a recent press conference held at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Tehran.

Heidari highlighted the impressive growth in publisher participation, stating, “Due to the approach of maximum publisher participation, we had a significant increase in the number of publishers this year. In the domestic section of the fair, 2,363 publishers are attending,” as quoted by Mehr. The Tehran Publishing Fellowship represents a collaboration between publishers, authors, and literary agents aimed at facilitating the sale of book rights. Despite the rising costs, Heidari noted their goal to reduce the fair’s overall expenses by 30 to 40 percent compared to last year. This reduction will be achieved through increased subsidies and careful management of operational costs, ensuring that the fair remains accessible to a wide audience.
