President Pezeshkian Advocates for Strengthened Ties and Cooperation with Azerbaijan

President Masoud Pezeshkian has highlighted the significant potential for bilateral cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. His remarks came ahead of an official visit to Baku, where he aims to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Before departing on Monday morning, Pezeshkian stated, “There are good opportunities and grounds for cooperation with Azerbaijan.” This visit is pivotal as it focuses on various key areas of mutual interest.

During his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the following topics are expected to be discussed:

  • Scientific collaboration
  • Economic partnerships
  • Cross-border issues involving Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of experience transfer and joint investments in enhancing trade and economic collaboration. He expressed optimism, stating, “I hope these visits will lead to the development and growth in all fields.”

Additionally, the president noted that Iranian businessmen, industrialists, and academics will engage with their Azerbaijani counterparts to explore avenues for expanding collaboration. “On the sidelines of the trip, Iranian businessmen, industrialists, and academics will discuss with their Azerbaijani counterparts the ways to expand collaboration,” Pezeshkian added.

This visit marks Pezeshkian’s first official trip to Azerbaijan, aligning with his administration’s commitment to fostering regional and neighborhood diplomacy. The trip represents a continuation of efforts to revive relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
