The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, officially known as the Annecy Festival, was established in 1960 and is held annually in the picturesque town of Annecy, France, during the first week of June. Initially a biennial event, it became an annual celebration of animation in 1998. The festival is recognized as one of the four major international animated film festivals endorsed by the International Animated Film Association.

This esteemed festival showcases a variety of animated films across multiple techniques, including:

  • Traditional animation
  • Cut-out animation
  • Claymation
  • CGI

Submissions are categorized into feature films, short films, television productions, advertisements, student films, and internet films, offering a diverse platform for creators to present their work.

Throughout the festival, audiences can enjoy film screenings in various cinemas around the city, as well as an open-air night projection on Pâquier, a scenic spot nestled by the lake and mountains. This unique experience allows attendees to watch classic or recent films projected onto a giant screen under the stars, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the event.

At the closing ceremony, filmmakers are honored for their outstanding contributions, with awards presented across various categories. The festival not only celebrates the art of animation but also serves as a hub for networking and collaboration among artists, producers, and enthusiasts.
