In a significant move to showcase China’s automotive testing capabilities, the Hainan Automobile Proving Ground has opened its doors to foreign journalists. This event, organized by the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), provided a rare opportunity for international reporters to gain in-depth knowledge about the operations at this premier vehicle testing facility located in Hainan Province.

According to officials at the Hainan Automobile Proving Ground, their primary goal is to ensure that all vehicles tested at the facility meet stringent quality standards and comply with necessary regulations before reaching consumers. They emphasized that Chinese car manufacturers are committed to adhering to international standards.

“In China, we manufacture a large volume of cars every year, and we are the number one auto exporter. The quality is definitely assured. We follow all international standards for quality assurance,” officials stated.

Moreover, they highlighted that Chinese vehicles are equipped with a range of advanced features, including state-of-the-art entertainment options, which enhance their performance when compared to cars from countries like Japan and South Korea.

During the visit, journalists had the chance to experience the testing ground firsthand by riding in a Hongqi minibus. This unique experience allowed them to observe the rigorous testing procedures in action.

As a representative from Tehran, I was fortunate to be part of this media delegation. Our journey began on a high-speed track designed to test the reliability of the vehicle.

• The track consists of three lanes with speed limits of 80 km/h, 120 km/h, and 150 km/h.
• Our minibus navigated various challenges such as curves, inclines, and declines to evaluate its steering, braking, and anti-gravity systems.
• We also encountered bumps that made the ride feel like a thrilling amusement park experience, effectively testing the minibus’s capabilities.

The minibus successfully passed all the tests, leaving a lasting impression on the journalists. Bulgarian journalist Tania Georgieva Glouhtcheva expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Today’s ride was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Usually, I get sick when the driver drives fast, but today I wasn’t even dizzy. I felt safe and hope more vehicles like this could be exported to Eastern Europe.”

Freelance journalist Mojca Pisek from Slovenia also shared her thoughts, saying, “The minibus test ride was a valuable experience that demonstrated the highest level of expertise and diligence in China’s approach to vehicle safety for users.”

Milko Zivkovic from Macedonia added, “The test drive was informative, giving me a feel for the procedure, but most of all, it was fun. I wasn’t expecting it to be so bumpy, and part of it reminded me of certain road trips in the Balkans.”
