In a significant move to enhance collaboration within the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Sattar Hashemi, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with his Serbian counterpart, Dejan Ristic. This agreement aims to foster cooperation and innovation in ICT, data transfer, and artificial intelligence, marking a pivotal step in strengthening ties between Iran and Serbia.

Hashemi’s official visit to Belgrade took place from February 25-27, where he engaged in discussions with key Serbian officials, including President Aleksandar Vucic. During their meeting, President Vucic expressed a strong desire to advance cooperation with Iran across various sectors, particularly in ICT.

Hashemi articulated that by fostering environments conducive to collaboration and investment, the Persian Gulf region can emerge as a leader in AI excellence. “By establishing AI acceleration hubs, facilitating joint investment in free zones, and enhancing academic collaboration and elite exchange programs, we can unlock new opportunities for innovation and economic growth,” he remarked.
